Before joining Rigby Watts, Spencer spent more than 14 years at Grandeur Peak Global Advisors, a global small-cap investment firm based in Salt Lake City. He started there as an intern in college, when the firm was in its infancy, and helped it grow into a multi-strategy asset manager with more than $3 billion in assets under management. Along the way he wore many hats, covering a range of sectors and geographies and holding several portfolio management roles, including Global Micro Cap, Global Contrarian (value tilt), Global Explorer, and a Japan-only SMA.
Spencer has lived abroad several times and enjoys every chance to learn from different cultures and people. His work pairs his passion for investing with a global canvas on which to build a portfolio, which is why he genuinely loves what he does.

His favorite pastime is cheering from the sidelines and stands at his kids’ activities. He also enjoys fly fishing, camping, ping pong, chess, and beating his three older brothers on the golf course.
